UNICEF vs. Traditional Organizations 

• UNICEF has a worldwide reach & mandate that is quite unique compared to traditional organizations, which often have a smaller geographical mandate. As a United Nations organization, they are responsible for supporting children across many countries around the world, especially those that face significant oppression and violence.
• UNICEF focuses on long-term projects with broad goals, namely the improvement of child welfare and child rights. This differs from traditional organizations, which often focus on specific short-term goals.
• UNICEF supports the creation of international laws and policies, like the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which makes it uniquely positioned for global advocacy, whereas traditional organizations often have limited influence on these topics.
• UNICEF receives funding from several organizations, such as local governments or donors. They also have the opportunity to utilize the United Nation’s funding to support their projects.
